Yemeni drones hit Israel”s Ramon Airport
According to Yemen’s Al-Masirah network, the Yemeni Armed Forces issued a statement detailing successful military operations against targets affiliated with the Israeli regime and the United States.
The statement confirmed that two successful drone attacks were carried out. In the first operation, two drones targeted Ramon Airport in the Um al-Rashrash area. The second strike hit a vital target in the occupied city of Jaffa using a Yemeni-made drone named “Yafa.”
Separately, the Yemeni military reported a combined operation against the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Truman and several accompanying vessels in the northern Red Sea. The operation involved a ballistic missile and several drones.
According to the statement, the attack caused panic among enemy forces and led to the downing of an F-18 fighter jet. As a result, the USS Truman reportedly retreated to the northernmost part of the Red Sea.
The Yemeni military further added that the operation repelled a planned US aerial operation against Yemen.
The statement concluded that these attacks were launched before the US declared a halt to its strikes on Yemen and warned that any renewed aggression would be met with severe retaliation.

Iran urges restraint as FM Araghchi arrives in India
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, upon arrival in the Indian capital, voiced hope that India and Pakistan would exercise restraint to avoid further tensions in the region.
Araghchi said his trip to India was part of a long-planned mission to convene the joint economic commission between the two countries.
He added that his delegation includes senior officials from Iran’s economic ministries, and that bilateral economic cooperation will be reviewed during the visit.
“At the same time,” he said, “we have always maintained political consultations with India on important regional and international matters. Given the current sensitive situation, these discussions will be more focused and will cover new dimensions.”
Araghchi stated that he will meet with his Indian counterpart to review regional issues, emphasizing Iran’s desire for de-escalation and peace.
“Our region needs calm, especially to expand economic cooperation among neighboring countries, and we hope this can be achieved,” he concluded.

Trump says he’ll decide on name of ‘Persian Gulf’ during ME trip
“I’ll have to make a decision,” Trump said in response to a question about whether he would make an announcement on the body of water’s name.
“I don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings. I don’t know if feelings are going to be hurt.”
“I’m going to be given a briefing on that and I’ll make a decision,” Trump added.
Trump’s comments came after US media reported that he plans to use the May 13-16 trip to announce that the US will begin referring to the body of water as the Arabian Gulf or the Gulf of Arabia.
The name of the waterway has long been a source of tensions between Arab nations and Iran.
Iran argues that the “Persian Gulf” is the appropriate name in light of historical evidence, including ancient maps, that shows it is part of its territory.
In 2012, Iran threatened to sue internet giant Google for leaving the waterway nameless on its online map services.
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi condemned the latest suggestions of a name change as “indicative of hostile intent toward Iran and its people”, and warned that such a move would “only bring the wrath of all Iranians from all walks of life”.
“Such biased actions are an affront to all Iranians, regardless of their background or place of residence,” Araghchi said in a post on X early on Thursday.
“Let’s hope that the absurd rumours about the PERSIAN Gulf that are going around are no more than a disinformation campaign by ‘forever warriors’ to anger Iranians all over the world and agitate them,” he added.

Syria’s HTS-led administration says in talks with Israel
The head of the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS)-led administration in Syria has confirmed “indirect” negotiations with the Israeli regime aiming to prevent, what he called, an uncontrollable explosion of the underway situation amid Tel Aviv’s incessant military aggression towards Syria.
Speaking at a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Wednesday, Abu Mohammed al-Jolani emphasized the urgency of the talks to avoid a scenario, where the situation would “spiral out of control.”
He also mentioned that the administration was reaching out to countries with established ties to the regime to ask the latter to stop the aggression.
Also on Wednesday, Reuters reported that the United Arab Emirates had established a backchannel to facilitate the indirect talks. Last month, Jolani had travelled to the emirates, which has formal ties Tel Aviv on the back of signing a United States-mediated agreement in 2020.
He called the regime”s military escalation in Syria a “violation” of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between Damascus and Tel Aviv. The deal was signed after the latter’s seizing Syria’s Golan Heights during a Western-backed war seven years earlier.

Iran’s UN mission says “facts won’t change in Oval Office” amid name dispute over Persian Gulf
In a statement on social media platform X, Iran’s UN mission said, “Facts do not change in the Oval Office. Everyone must stand against the distortion of reality. Understanding history and geography is essential to governance.”
The comments follow growing speculation that the US administration, before Trump’s upcoming trip to the region, may officially adopt the name “Arabian Gulf” for historically verified millennia-old Persian Gulf, a move Tehran sees as politically motivated and historically unfounded.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also weighed in via X, calling such efforts a “hostile provocation” and a “disrespect to all Iranians.”
He emphasized that while Iran respects names like the Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean, or Red Sea – acknowledging them as shared heritage – it will not tolerate attempts to rename the Persian Gulf, whose name has been universally recognized for centuries.
Araghchi further asserted that no political maneuver can alter established historical and geographical facts, warning that such a move would ignite outrage among Iranians worldwide.
