Qatari delegation to hold meeting with HTS leader

Qatar was one of the main supporters of terrorist groups in Syria after the beginning of the unrest in this country in 2011. Now with the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad”s government, Doha is seeking to expand relations with this country.

Qatari sources announced that the Qatari Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi headed a delegation to Damascus on Monday and is set to meet and talk with Tahrir al-Sham ringleader Mohammad Al-Jolani.

The expansion of diplomatic and political relations with the future government of Syria will be one of the main axes of this trip.

During the last few years, Qatar has played a special role in Syria”s current affairs by expanding its relations with Turkey. Even now, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and what is called the Syrian National Army (supported by Turkey) have close relations with Qatar.

30 killed in Turkish drone attacks on Syria

Local sources announced that at least 30 people lost their lives during Turkish drone attacks against different areas of Syria.

Reports suggest that the Turkish drones have carried out 17 attacks against civilian targets in different areas of Syria, including the cities of Kobani and Manbij and other cities under the pretext of destroying the positions of Kurdish forces supported by the US.

They say that Turkey seeks to lay the groundwork for taking control of Kurdish cities and regions and destroying them.

Turkey is leading a war that may ultimately lead to the fragmentation of Syrian society and the creation of an Arab-Kurdish sedition, the Syrian sources say.

Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad”s government, Ankara has repeatedly targeted the Kurdish and border regions of Syria.

Israel launches extensive attacks on Lebanon

Although a ceasefire agreement has been signed between Hezbollah and the Zionist regime, Tel Aviv is repeatedly violating this agreement with the support of the United States.

Lebanese sources announced that the Zionist army heavily targeted and bombarded the city of KafarKila in the south of the Arab country.

There have been no immediate reports of possible casualties.

Since the establishment of a ceasefire between the parties to the conflict, the Zionist regime has bombed Lebanon hundreds of times under various pretexts. However, the US and its European allies support the barbaric actions of the Zionist regime and call on Lebanon to exercise restraint.

Yemen attacks baffled United States air defense systems

Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, a member of the group’s Political Bureau, made the remarks to Qatar’s Al Jazeera television network on Saturday.

“Our attacks confused the US’s air defenses, and caused the country’s fighter plane to crash due to friendly fire,” he said, Press TV reports.

The official described Yemen’s pro-Palestinian attacks against American and Israeli targets as “effective,” saying the strikes had succeeded in achieving their intended results since their onset last October.

The forces have been conducting numerous such strikes since October 7, 2023, when the Israeli regime began taking the Gaza Strip under a United States-backed genocidal war that has so far claimed the lives of at least 45,259 Palestinians, mostly women and children.

The strikes have been targeting the American military assets that are deployed off Yemen’s coastline, strategic and sensitive targets across the occupied Palestinian territories as well as the Israeli ships and the vessels heading towards the occupied territories.

Bukhaiti’s remarks came after Yemen’s Defense Minister Mohammed Nasser al-Atifi warned Washington that the country was capable of sinking the US’s naval fleets, and was in possession of weapons that it had refused to deploy so far.

Yemen’s pro-Palestinian strikes have mounted enormous pressure on the Israeli regime by forcing the vessels trying to ship military hardware and other commodities to the occupied territories to take the longer route around Africa.

The operations have, among other things, effectively shut down the port of Eilat, which is located in the southernmost tip of the occupied territories.

Bukhaiti said the operations have mounted an economic siege against the Israeli regime and afflicted damage on its security.

He, meanwhile, pointed to the intense deadly attacks that the US, the UK, and the regime have been conducting against Yemen as a means of trying to stop its pro-Palestinian strikes.

“We are likely to receive painful blows, but the more the enemy mobilizes its forces against us, the more certain we become of achieving victory.”

Whenever Yemen comes under Western and Israeli aggression, “it emerges stronger and triumphant from the situation, and its internal unity increases,” the official noted.

“We are prepared to pay the price of standing by the side of Gaza, and are not afraid of the enemy’s targeted killing operations.”

Referring to the West’s designation of Ansarullah as a “terrorist organization,” Bukhaiti said, “The terrorists are actually those who perpetrate crimes in Gaza, and those who support them.”

“Our operations seek to stop the genocide in Gaza. The Zionist regime is incapable of confronting us alone, and is, therefore, seeking help from those who support it.”

Destruction of US warplane shows Yemeni force”s resilience

Hashem Ahmed Abdul-Rahman Sharaf al-Din, in an interview with Saba news agency on Sunday, also said that the continued escape of American aircraft carriers to get away from Yemen, due to constant attacks by armed forces, is a sufficient message to anyone who is thinking of attacking the Yemeni people.

Our successive victories against the US, the UK, and the Israeli regime, prove to the world that any aggression against the Yemeni people will not go unpunished, the minister added.

Hashem Sharaf al-Din restarted solidarity with the Palestinians and said, “We assure the world that under the leadership of Abdul-Malik Badreddine al-Houthi, we will continue to defend our land and dignity as well as support the oppressed people of Palestine”.

The US must take into account that stopping the Israeli aggression against Gaza and lifting the siege there is the only way to stop the operations of the Yemeni armed forces.

Earlier on Sunday, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces, also pledged to continue operations in defense of the Palestinian people and in response to the attacks on the Gaza Strip and Yemen

Saree announced that the Yemeni army successfully targeted the American aircraft carrier, USS Harry S. Truman, and a number of destroyers simultaneously with attacks on Sana’a.

The operation was carried out with eight cruise missiles and 17 drones, he said, adding that an American F-18 fighter jet was shot down as well.

ISIL resurgence in Syria threatens stability

British newspaper The Times raised serious concerns about the resurgence of ISIL. The paper emphasized that ISIL could capitalize on the instability in Syria to reorganize, regroup, and launch new attacks.

US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan warned that the greatest threat in the region is the return of ISIL, stating that the group aims to exploit any power vacuum or lack of stability in the country.

Over the past year, ISIL has resurfaced in Syria, with The Times noting that global conflicts have diverted media and intelligence attention away from the growing threat. This has allowed ISIL to gradually rebuild its presence, leading to a rise in attacks. The paper highlighted that ISIL executed nearly 700 operations in Syria this year, tripling the number from the previous year.

The group is believed to still have around 2,500 fighters operating between Syria and Iraq, and this number is expected to grow due to increased recruitment and propaganda efforts. ISIL is particularly active in the central Badiya Desert, the report stressed, adding that they are organizing sleeper cells and executing ambushes.

The Times also pointed out that the situation in northeastern Syria is particularly alarming, with approximately 9,000 ISIL fighters and more than 40,000 family members of ISIL detainees held in camps and prisons.

ISIL is watching closely, monitoring recent events in order to identify any moment of weakness, The Times explained.

Yemen not an “ordinary enemy” to Israel

Yemen”s rockets that struck Israel on Saturday have cast a shadow over Tel Aviv and its security establishments, Israeli newspaper Maariv stated on Monday, relaying the occupation”s military and security apparatus” growing concerns regarding Yemeni threats.

According to Maariv, the military and security establishment has acknowledged that the Yemeni conundrum is highly complicated, saying “Yemen is not an ordinary enemy.”

It is challenging to defeat Yemen, Maariv further added, Al Mayadeen reported.

According to a security source, Yemen is a challenge “Israel” has not faced before, and it did not know how to deal with it.

Yemenis have declared their open support for Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation since the regime launched a devastating war on Gaza on October 7 after the territory’s Palestinian Resistance movements carried out a surprise retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, against the occupying entity.

Yemeni Armed Forces have said that they won’t stop their attacks until unrelenting Israeli ground and aerial offensives in Gaza, which have killed at least 27,948 people and wounded another 67,459 individuals, come to an end.

The United States and Britain in December announced a military coalition to target Yemen in support of Israel.

200 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences to be freed

Negotiations for a ceasefire between Hamas and Israeli regime appear to be advancing, according to reports from Egyptian media and the Israeli regime”s daily Haaretz.

According to the news website “today.lorientlejour”, the Egyptian news channel Al-Ghad reported that the group has agreed to release 11 young captives in an initial phase of a potential agreement, in exchange for what was described as a “special value.”

Haaretz, citing a Palestinian source, reported that around 200 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences could be released as part of the deal. However, disagreements remain over which detainees would be included.

According to Al-Ghad, the primary sticking point is Israel’s demand for the release of 34 captives in the first phase of the agreement. Hamas reportedly claims that 11 of these individuals do not meet the criteria for humanitarian release, which include women, the elderly, minors, or the ill. In exchange for releasing the 34 captives, Hamas is requesting the release of 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences.

According to “lorient”, Hamas, along with the Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), stated on Saturday that a ceasefire agreement for Gaza is “closer than ever.” The territory has been the site of over a year of conflict with Israel.

Saudi delegation meets HTS leader at presidential palace

According to a report by the Saudi-owned and Riyadh-based Al Arabiya news television channel, the Saudi team was headed by an advisor from the Royal Court, and the meeting took place at the mountaintop presidential palace –commonly known as People’s Palace – on Sunday.

Details of the meeting have not been disclosed, and neither side issued an immediate statement

Earlier this week, Julani stated that Saudi Arabia and Syria look forward to a shared vision for Damascus in terms of cooperation and economic development.

“We admire the development in [Persian] Gulf countries, particularly Saudi Arabia’s bold plans and vision, and we aspire to achieve similar progress for Syria,” he told the Arabic Asharq al-Awsat newspaper.

This marked his first interview with a Saudi publication following the takeover of Damascus by terrorists led by his group on December 8.

“There are many opportunities for cooperation, especially in economic and developmental areas, where we can align our goals,” he added.
