In memory of Gen. Soleimani : Iconic anti-terrorism commander
Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), and their companions were assassinated in a US drone strike authorized by then-US President Donald Trump near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.
Both commanders were highly revered across the Middle East because of their key role in fighting the ISIL Takfiri terrorist group in the region, particularly in Iraq and Syria.
Iran has declared January 3, the day Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani was assassinated in a United States airstrike in Baghdad, as the International Day of Resistance.
Today coincides with the fifth anniversary of the assassination of Haj Qassem, the commander of the Quds force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps.
A terrorist attack on a person spearheading the fight against international terrorism was a clear example of adopting double standards by counter-terrorism plaintiffs.
Born on March 11, 1957, in the southeastern province of Kerman, Qassem grew up in a family involved in farming.
He started his religious and political activities at a young age and joined the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
Both in his personal life and on the battlefield, he was always humble and modest in his appearance, clothes, manner, and behavior. Contrary to his position, the amenities he had in life were similar to those of an ordinary person.
In many ceremonies, such as at the funerals of martyrs and their comrades, when meeting with the families and children of the martyrs, when giving speeches, or in public meetings, he would appear without any formality and would avoid becoming the center of attention.
To undermine security in West Asia, the multi-faceted project to create terrorist and takfiri groups, such as Al-Qaida and ISIL, was carried out to re-engineer the region.
To ensure West Asian security and counteract Western plots, Soleimani developed the Resistance Front and boosted the fight against extremism and terrorism based on developing the Resistance strategy.
Hajj Qassem pre-empted the Westerners’ plans with the aim of creating discord in the anti-Zionist camp.
Former president Ebrahim Raisi who was martyred in a helicopter crash in May 2024 once said that Soleimani symbolizes the fight against terrorism in the 21st century.
During the Iran-Iraq War, Soleimani was recognized as one of the field commanders and participated in various operations.
With his new strategies and strong leadership, he played an important role in Iran”s victories, one of the hallmarks of Haj Qassem Soleimani was his courage and sacrifice on the battlefields and in the face of threats.
He was always on the front line and sacrificed his life in defense of the homeland and Islamic values.
Soleimani was known as a smart and resourceful military commander, he was able to achieve significant success on the battlefields by carefully analyzing the situation and using new strategies, Haj Qassem Soleimani was known for his love and humanity, he always helped the needy and the injured and tried to help improve the social and economic situation of the people.
Soleimani was known as a symbol of resistance to oppression and arrogance, he continued to fight oppression and corruption by emphasizing Islamic and human principles, Qassem Soleimani played a key role in the fight against terrorist groups such as ISIS, he helped defeat these groups by creating regional coalitions and working with local forces.
Soleimani is known as one of the founders of the Resistance Axis in the region, he helped strengthen the Axis by supporting resistance groups such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Iraqi Popular Mobilization.
As a successful military diplomat, he was able to communicate with different countries in the region and strengthen military and security cooperation.
Also, he helped build new coalitions and strengthen international relations by traveling to different countries.
The personality of Soleimani and his activities had a great influence on global politics.
He was known as a popular figure among Muslim and freedom-loving nations and was a symbol of resistance to global arrogance.
In 2013, after conquering Ramadi, Fallujah, Mosul, Tikrit, and some other areas in northern Iraq, ISIL entered into a full-scale war with the Iraqi government and managed to capture more than 50,000 kilometers of Iraq and subjugate more than 4 million of the country’s population.
While the ISIL was advancing in Iraq, the US took advantage of the difficult situation in the Arab country and pressured the then-Iraqi government to resign.
As a result, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki had no other choice but to resign.
ISIL”s threats and brutality, the captivity of women and children, and the mass killing of opponents, as well as its strict laws not only painted an ugly, hateful, and completely false image of Islam but also instilled fear in the hearts of the Iraqi people and drove some opposition groups to the Iraqi government.
The Iraqi government asked General Soleimani for help to save it from this predicament, and following his military advice and managerial capability and initiative in mobilizing the people and using Hashd al-Shaabi, the offensive path of ISIL in Iraq was stopped.
General Soleimani’s skill in using the capacity of popular mobilization in cases such as bringing together Kurdish and Shia forces to fight ISIL was pivotal, and his supervision of the joint operations carried out by these two groups was fruitful.
In addition to monitoring the situation, General Soleimani’s active participation in popular operations was his other important feature that uplifted the spirit of the Iraqi popular mobilization against ISIL.
Emphasizing the principles of independence and freedom, Soleimani continued to fight against the colonial schemes and domination of Western countries and was known as an inspirational leader for oppressed nations.
In the years after his death, Soleimani’s image has been immortalized in media, literature, and public discourse.
His supporters celebrate him as a martyr whose sacrifices resonate with those fighting against oppression.
Commemorative events and memorials serve as rallying points for like-minded groups adhering to his vision of resistance.
Soleimani’s influence also permeates ideology, intertwining with anti-imperialist rhetoric and inspiring a new generation of activists and military leaders.
The Resistance Axis he advocated remains a significant force in the geopolitical landscape, with allied groups pushing for autonomy and self-determination against external pressures.
As the region continues to face governance issues, and foreign intervention, Qassem Soleimani’s memory endures as a symbol of resilience.
His life’s work highlights the complexities of combating terrorism and the multifaceted nature of resistance.

Turkey launches artillery attacks on Syria
According to al-Mayadeen, local sources said that Turkish attacks had taken place against the positions of the Syrian Kurdish forces supported by the US, known as the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in Ain al-Arab and Ain Isa.
So far, no reports have been provided on the number of casualties and possible damages caused by these attacks.
The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced yesterday that a ceasefire between Turkey and the SDF is in place around the city of Manbij in northern Syria.
Meanwhile, an official of the Turkish Ministry of Defense said that there is no talk of a ceasefire agreement between Ankara and the Kurdish armed forces supported by the US.

Israeli forces martyred police director general in Gaza Strip
Mahmoud Salah was martyred in an airstrike by the occupying regime of Israel on the Palestinian refugee tents in the Al-Mawasi district of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip on Thursday, the report added.
Palestinian media outlets announced that at least 11 Palestinians were killed and 15 others were injured in an Israeli airstrike on Palestinian refugee tents in the Al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip.
Israeli strikes killed at least 12 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on New Year’s Day, mostly women and children, officials said, as the nearly 15-month war ground on into the new year.

10 people killed in Israel’s army attack against refugee camp
Al Jazeera television reported the Israeli army delivered a strike against a tent camp for displaced Palestinians in the Al-Mawasi humanitarian zone located in the south of the Palestinian enclave, with ten people killed and several others wounded.
The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 2023 has so far resulted in at least 45,553 documented Palestinian fatalities, with over 108,379 others injured.
Thousands of victims are feared trapped under rubble, inaccessible to emergency and civil defense teams due to Israeli attacks.
Israel”s genocidal attacks continue unabated despite calls from the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire and directives from the International Court of Justice urging measures to prevent genocide and alleviate the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.

At least 10 killed, 4 wounded in Montenegro shooting
A 45-year-old man, identified by police as Aleksandar Martinovic, was on the run after opening fire at a restaurant in the town of Cetinje where he killed four people, according to Reuters.
The shooter moved on to three other locations, gunning down a family member, two children, and three other people, police said. Four more people suffered life-threatening injuries.
The suspect, who media reports said had a history of illegal weapons possession, was at large around Cetinje, a small valley town surrounded by rugged hills some 38 km (23.6 miles) west of the Montenegrin capital Podgorica.
A reporter with the state-run broadcaster RTCG said police deployed a drone with thermal vision to search for the suspect. Special police and anti-terrorist units were also searching for the suspect in the hills.

شهید سلیمانی یک عمر مشغول مجاهدت بود
به گزارش خبرنگار مهر، حجت الاسلام اسماعیل سعادت نژاد صبح پنجشنبه در مراسم بزرگداشت پنجمین سالگرد شهادت سردار حاج قاسم سلیمانی با اشاره به جایگاه ویژه شهید سلیمانی اظهار کرد: سردار سلیمانی با تمام وجود برای دفاع از حریم اسلام و ولایت جهاد کرد و در این راه به شهادت رسید.
نماینده سابق ولی فقیه در سپاه قدس با اشاره به ولایتمداری شهید سلیمانی خاطرنشان کرد: شهید سلیمانی همواره در کنار خانوادههای شهدا بود و به مسائل ایثارگران رسیدگی میکرد.
وی سردار سلیمانی را مرد عمل معرفی کرد و ادامه داد: سردار سلیمانی کلید عاقبت بخیری برای همه ما ایرانیان است و ایشان پس از یک عمر مجاهدت به آرزوی خود یعنی شهادت دست یافت.
حجتالاسلام سعادتنژاد حاج قاسم سلیمانی را مظهر ارزش و قدرت امیر مؤمنان حضرت علیهالسلام دانست و بیان کرد: راز و نیاز، شب زندهداری، اشک به درگاه خداوند متعال از جمله ویژگی حاج قاسم سلیمانی است و زمانی که پا به عرصه جهاد گذاشت و با معارف دینی خوب آشنا شد نماز شب آن در همه لحظات تا آخرین روز عمرش ترک نشد و همیشه قبل از اذان صبح با خداوند متعال راز و نیاز میکرد.
مشاور عالی فرهنگی سپاه قدس با تشریح سیره شهید سردار حاج قاسم سلیمانی اظهار داشت: در جبهه مقاومت هیچگاه سنگر فرماندهی نمیرفت و همواره در کنار دیگر رزمندگان بود و به روضهخوانی توجه ویژه داشت و ضعف خود را با اشک و روضه اهل بیت علیهالسلام جبران میکرد و قدرت و قوت میگرفت.
سعادتنژاد با بیان اینکه شهید سلیمانی به اشک و گریه نزد ایزد منان توجه ویژه داشت اضافه کرد: اشک در خانه شهدا، پیکر مطهر شهدا، مجروحین و جانبازان از جمله ویژگی این سردار دلها بود چراکه حاج قاسم با این همه گرفتاری و مشکلات غافل و بیخبر از خانواده شهدا، جانبازان و فرزندان ایثارگران نبود، این سنت حاج قاسم بود.
وی با بیان اینکه حاج قاسم اسیر دنیا نبود خاطرنشان کرد: شهید قاسم سلیمانی دنیا را نخواست، همه چیز در دنیا برای آن فراهم بود، مال، مقام، منزل، باغ و بوستان، همه چیز برای حاج قاسم فراهم بود هیچکدام نخواست و دست رد به همه اموال دنیایی زد.
مشاور فرمانده نیروی قدس سپاه پاسداران، شهید حاج قاسم سلیمانی را یک الگوی کامل در پشتیبانی از ولایت دانست و گفت: شاخصهای مهم مکتب حاج قاسم مقاومت و پایداری در مقابل دشمن که بهترین شاخص در مسیر شهداست.
مراسم بزرگداشت پنجمین سالگرد شهادت سردار حاج قاسم سلیمانی صبح پنجشنبه در حسینیه عاشقان ثارالله سپاه امام صادق (ع) بوشهر برگزار شد.

لایروبی اروند رود برای عراق اولویت ندارد
به گزارش خبرنگار مهر، علاء الدین بروجردی پیش از ظهر امروز در جریان بازدید اعضای کمیسیون امنیت ملی و سیاست خارجی مجلس شورای اسلامی از نوار مرزی اروندرود در جمع خبرنگاران اظهار کرد: منطقه حساس آبراه اروندرود در هشت سال دفاع مقدس تحت پوشش جنگ قرار داشت برای کشور به لحاظ اقتصادی و دفاعی حائز اهمیت است.
وی با اشاره به لایروبی اروندرود، افزود: این موضوع یک طرح ملی است و فقط مربوط به استان خوزستان نیست و همچنین با توجه به رقابتی که این منطقه با کشور عراق دارد باید لایروبی آن در کمترین زمان ممکن آغاز شود.
عضو کمیسیون امنیت ملی و سیاست خارجی مجلس شورای اسلامی ادامه داد: کشور عراق همسایه خوب ما است ولی باید به لحاظ تجاری با آن رقابت کرد که برای رقابت مطلوب در ابتدا باید عملیات لایروبی اروندرود پس از اعتبارات لازم اجرایی شود.
بروجردی گفت: کشور عراق در راستای منافع ملی خود گامهای بلند و مؤثری برداشته و ما نباید از این لحاظ عقب بمانیم.
وی اظهار کرد: عمق این آبراه مهم به دلیل بی توجهی از ۱۲ متر به ۲ متر رسیده که باعث شده شناورهایی تجاری نتوانند در آن فعالیت کنند.
عضو کمیسیون امنیت ملی و سیاست خارجی مجلس شورای اسلامی، لایروبی را یک فوریت دانست و تاکید کرد: فعالیت و پهلوگیری شناورهایی که میتوانند در توسعه اقتصادی کشور را داشته باشند مبتنی بر لایروبی این آبراه است.
بروجردی با بیان اینکه مصوبات لایروبی اروند در مجلس تأیید شده است، اظهار کرد: تخصیص سریع با کمک رئیس مجلس لحاظ میشود، یا اینکه میتوان کار را به صورت تکلیفی به نهادهایی مانند قرارگاه خاتم الانبیا سپرد.
وی با اشاره به اینکه باید عقب ماندگی آبراه اروند جبران شود، افزود: کشور عراق با احداث بیش از ۹۰ اسکله در منطقه فاو رقابت نزدیکی را با ایران ایجاد کرده و اکنون لایروبی اروندرود برای آنها برخلاف ما اولویت نیست.

جنگنده سوخو-۲۷ ارتش اوکراین سرنگون شد
به گزارش خبرگزاری مهر به نقل از راشاتودی، وزارت دفاع روسیه امروز پنجشنبه در گزارش روزانه خود از تحولات جنگ در اوکراین اعلام کرد که پدافند هوایی نیروهای مسلح این کشور یک فروند جنگنده سوخ و-۲۷ نیروی هوایی اوکراین را سرنگون کردند.
در این بیانیه همچنین آمده است که در شبانهروز گذشته در درگیریها در مناطق مختلف ارتش اوکراین ۷۴۰ نیروی نظامی را از دست داد.
افزون بر این سامانههای پدافند هوایی روسیه ۶ موشک هیمارس و ۹۷ پهپاد اوکراینی را سرنگون کردند.

US, France FM discuss Syria, Lebanon in phone call
Department of State Spokesperson Matthew Miller stated that Antony Blinken and the French Minister discussed developments in Syria and Lebanon in a telephone call on Wednesday.
Blinken underscored the need for all groups in Syria to respect human rights, uphold international humanitarian law, and take all precautions to protect civilians, including members of minority groups, according to the US Department of State.
The two sides also discussed the latest developments in Syria and ways to help the Syrian people seize the opportunity to build a better future while limiting the risks of further instability, including from ISIL, as well as the imperative of an inclusive, Syrian-led transition process.
On Lebanon, Blinken highlighted the urgent need for Lebanon to restore its leadership through presidential elections.
