“Global Nexus – Iran-Armenia Relations Reach New Heights”

Iran-Armenia relations at unprecedented level

On Friday, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia emphasized the unprecedented relations between Tehran and Yerevan and stated that this country can reach an agreement with Iran on any issue.

Last week, Armenia and the United States signed a strategic partnership document, and the then US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that a team from the United States would visit Armenia for issues related to border security.

On Friday, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, in response to the question of the journalists regarding the extent to which this issue was related to Iran and whether this issue was discussed with the Iranian counterparts or not, said that Armenia would discuss all issues with its Iranian counterparts, but the issue raised by the US Secretary of State is only related to increasing the effectiveness of Armenias” border control and has nothing to do with Iran or critical issues.

“I believe that the statement issued is another proof of our close relations and special cooperation. I do not see any issue that we cannot reach an agreement on with the Iranian side. Our relations are at an unprecedented level,” the senior Armenian diplomat said.

Ukraine war could have been averted if Trump was president

Speaking to a Russian TV channel, Putin echoed Trump’s assertion that the 2020 election was ‘’stolen’, and indicated this alleged outcome indirectly contributed to the crisis, as per CNN.

Putin stated that Moscow has always been ready for negotiations on the Ukraine conflict, restating his government’s willingness to find a solution. ‘’We have always mentioned, and I will highlight it again, that we are ready for negotiations on the Ukrainian issue, ‘’he stated, emphasizing his readiness to get involved in talks with Washington if prompted.

The Kremlin added that it is waiting for the ‘’signals’’ to commence the talks from the US. Meanwhile, Trump has maintained that the Ukraine war would not have occurred under his presidency. On Friday, Putin supported his statement, saying, ‘’If his victory had not been stolen in 2020 then maybe the Ukraine crisis would have not emerged in 2022.’’

Trump has often exhibited confidence in his ability to bring peace to Ukraine and has claimed that he can stop the war in ‘’one day’’. His proposed time for ending the war has ignited debate but his earlier proposal of allotting 100 days for a special envoy to sort out the conflict displays his emphasis on diplomacy. Recently, Trump has commented that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is ready to make a deal and Putin may also be open to the same.

Trump, while talking to the reporters, stated, ‘’From what I hear, Putin is interested in meeting me. We’ll meet as soon as we can. We don’t meet every day, soldiers are getting killed on the battlefield.’’ Trump also reasserted the disastrous toll of the war during a virtual address at the World Economic Forum, describing it as the deadliest of the wars that have taken place since World War II, as millions of lives have been lost.

UN encourages possible Putin-Trump talks

“We encourage all talks between the United States and the Russian Federation and we hope that they continue to engage in dialog,” Deputy Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General said, answering a question from TASS.

The day before, Trump said he would like to meet with Putin immediately. On January 21, he did not rule out a complete cessation of US arms supplies to Kyiv. He also said he was ready to meet with the Russian leader at any convenient moment. At the same time, Trump speculated that tougher sanctions against Russia were a possibility if Moscow refused to conclude a deal on Ukraine. In turn, Putin said Russia has never dodged any contact with Washington.

Putin and Trump last spoke by telephone on July 23, 2020.

Iran rejects Israeli accusation of smuggling arms to Lebanon

“This claim is nothing more than an excuse to justify the Israeli regime’s repeated violations of Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006) and its blatant disregard for the ceasefire arrangement with Lebanon,” Amir Saeed Iravani said Friday, PressTV reported.

“The regime has no intention of adhering to its commitments to withdraw from southern Lebanon after the 60-day ceasefire period, according to the established requirements. Instead, the Israeli regime raises such baseless accusations to legitimize its ongoing illegal occupation of Lebanese lands,” he added.

His reaction came in letters to UN Chief General António Guterres and rotating President of the Security Council Amar Bendjama, responding to the Israeli ambassador to the UN Danny Danon”s accusations on January 13.

The letter by the Israeli envoy “baselessly and erroneously accuses Iran of smuggling advanced weapons systems to Lebanon”, Iravani said.

Iravani said the Security Council must compel the Israeli regime to fully implement its obligations under the ceasefire arrangement, immediately cease its violations against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon, and withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon without delay.

“Failure to take decisive action will only embolden the regime to commit further violations and endanger peace and security in the West Asia region,” he added.

Iravani also strongly rejected similar “baseless accusations made against the Islamic Republic of Iran by representatives of the United States and Britain during the open meeting of the Security Council on January 25”.

“The attribution of destructive and destabilizing activities in the region to the Islamic Republic of Iran is completely baseless and lacks credibility,” he said.

It “is a deliberate attempt to divert attention and conceal the direct complicity of the defendants in the genocide and war crimes committed by the Israeli regime against Palestinians in Gaza.”

“The undeniable complicity of the United States and Britain in facilitating these crimes is fully documented,” Iravani said, adding “Their unconditional support has encouraged the Israeli regime to more brazenly commit crimes with impunity”.

The principled position of the Islamic Republic in the region, he said, is “based on ending the occupation, establishing a just and lasting peace, and guaranteeing the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination in accordance with international law”.

Tehran says EU Parliament resolution has no legal basis

Marzieh Afkham made the remark on Saturday, two days after the European Parliament passed a resolution criticizing what it called systematic repression of human rights, including women’s rights, in Iran.

The Director General of Human Rights and Women at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Marzieh Afkham, has described a recent resolution of the European Parliament, which raised unfounded accusations regarding the human rights and women”s rights situation in Iran as a repetitive action.

Afkham said the resolution reflects an interventionist and politicized approach within this European institution, adding it is devoid of any legal validity.

While condemning the irresponsible resolution of the European Parliament, Afkham emphasized, “The judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran is a professional and independent body, and judicial processes in Iran are always based on law and conducted through fair trial procedures.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran considers any foreign interference aimed at meddling in judicial processes and functions as contrary to the principles and rules of international law and rejects it,” she added.

The director general of human rights and women at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the inappropriate positions of the sponsors and supporters of the European Parliament resolution regarding a part of the official military force of the Islamic Republic of Iran as completely unjustified.

She stated, “The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), as a legal and popular institution, has played a fundamental role in safeguarding Iran”s national security, defending Iran against the aggression of Saddam”s regime and other invading forces, and combating terrorism in the region. Any audacity against this homeland-defending institution will be met with a decisive response from the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Afkham also criticized the interventionist positions of some members of the European Parliament, saying, “The European Parliament should learn from past ill-considered actions and, instead of openly supporting terrorist groups and elements – which amounts to endorsing and encouraging violence and violating fundamental human rights – should take steps towards respecting its international legal obligations and playing a constructive role in promoting peace, stability, and human rights.

Oct. 7 op. preemptive strike to defend Palestinians: Hamas

Ezz al-Din al-Hadad, a member of the Military Council of the al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, said in an interview with the Qatar-based Al Jazeera network that the October 7 operation was in response to Israel’s intensified blockade of the Gaza Strip and the regime’s plans for a ground invasion of the Palestinian territory.

“Here in Gaza, the siege was systematically tightened to subject our people to slow death. We could not stand idly by or merely observe. It has never been part of our resistance doctrine to neglect or delay in supporting our Prophet (PBUH),” Hadad said, according to PressTV.

“Hence, al-Aqsa Flood became necessary to thwart the enemy’s systematic plans with an unprecedented and seismic preemptive strike in defense of our sanctities, people, and resistance.”

The Hamas official underlined that the Israeli regime was attempting to “deceive” the Resistance movement by slightly improving the living conditions in Gaza while ignoring the situation in the occupied West Bank and al-Quds.

“We warned that this reality could not be tolerated or accepted. However, the occupation attempted to deceive us and neutralize our resistance in Gaza by slightly improving living conditions in the Gaza Strip … This, of course, strengthened our resolve to activate the military option, especially after all other options failed,” Hadad added.

Pointing to the arrangements made by Hamas prior to the October 7 operation, Hadad said the military leadership had been in continuous session since October 1st, finalizing plans for the attack.

“In the 24 hours preceding the zero hour, command and control rooms were linked to the central operations room overseeing the execution. Troops tasked with carrying out the attack were mobilized, and combat support weapons were on full alert until 6:30 a.m. on the morning of October 7,” he said.

“Our attack was meticulously coordinated with the maneuvers our fighters had trained for. At zero hour, our rocket salvos, drone and glider swarms, and naval units synchronized with thousands of elite al-Qassam infantry who breached the separation barrier. By God’s grace, the barrier collapsed at the hands of engineering unit fighters in a breathtaking scene under divine protection,” he added.

Praising the retaliatory operation as an “astonishing success,” Hadad said, “Despite the operation’s massive scale, the enemy obtained no information about it, and its defenses were ineffective against our fighters. Our fighters demonstrated remarkable skill, courage, and the highest levels of ethics and responsibility in the field.”

The Hamas official also outlined conditions for ending the Gaza war, saying, “The occupation leadership, which relies on the power of America and the West, will have no choice but to comply with our just demands to stop the aggression, withdraw completely from the Gaza Strip, release our prisoners in the occupation’s prisons—especially those sentenced to life imprisonment—lift the siege, and begin reconstruction.”

Israel has killed at least 47,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 111,000 other individuals in Gaza since the onset of its genocidal war against Gaza on October 7, 2023. Thousands more are also missing and presumed dead under rubble.

Israel was forced to agree to a ceasefire, which began on January 19, after it failed to achieve its declared objectives in the besieged territory.

Palestinians celebrated the ceasefire as a victory with some 2,000 Palestinian prisoners set to be released from Israeli prisons in exchange for Israeli captives held in Gaza.

Hamas hands over 4 Israeli prisoners to Red Cross

Hamas handed over 4 Israeli prisoners to Red Cross representatives.

The Zionist prisoners received gifts from Hamas upon their release.

In exchange for the release of these four female prisoners Israeli soldiers, 200 Palestinian prisoners will be released, 121 of whom are sentenced to one or more life sentences and 79 others have served heavy prison sentences.

The handover of the female Zionist prisoners took place in Palestine Square in Gaza, with representatives from the Red Cross present.

70 of the Palestinian prisoners who will be released today must be deported from the occupied territories, as the Israeli regime fears that these individuals will become active in Resistance groups again.
