Egypt marks 2 years of cancer detection program with fresh awareness drive

Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said national health initiatives have significantly reduced disease rates, especially cancer, through prevention, early detection and treatment, helping improve citizens’ life expectancy and quality.
Speaking at an event marking two years since the launch of the presidential early cancer detection initiative, Abdel Ghaffar announced a new campaign, “Safe from the Start,” aimed at raising awareness and screening for common cancers including lung, colon, cervical, prostate and breast cancer.
He praised the initiative’s role in improving early diagnosis and survival rates while reducing mortality, noting support from international bodies such as the World Health Organization.
He also highlighted Egypt’s international certification as free from hepatitis C, malaria and measles as evidence of progress in public health.
Officials discussed during the event scientific protocols and the program’s impact on healthcare coverage, while stressing continued expansion and public awareness as keys to success.
