Over 60 killed, injured after German market attacked
The driver was arrested at the scene shortly after the car barreled into the market at around 7 p.m., when it was teeming with holiday shoppers looking forward to the weekend, AP reported.
Verified bystander footage distributed by the German news agency dpa showed the suspect’s arrest on a walkway in the middle of the road. A nearby police officer pointing a handgun at the man shouted at him as he lay prone. Other officers soon arrived to take the man into custody.
The two people confirmed dead were an adult and a toddler, but officials said additional deaths couldn’t be ruled out because 15 people had been seriously injured.

US, EU already spent €310 bn on military aid to Ukraine
“I received information from the Americans during my talks with them that Europe, along with the United States, has spent €310 billion so far on military aid to Ukraine,” the Hungarian Prime Minister said. He acknowledged that precise calculations were difficult but emphasized that “this is an enormous sum, regardless.”
According to Orban, this amount of money could be used to raise the standard of living in the Western Balkan countries to a pan-European level or to assist North African countries in addressing migration issues, TASS reported.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, speaking at a news conference in Brussels on December 19 following the EU summit, stated that the EU had already spent €130 billion on Ukraine and was prepared to allocate €30.6 billion more next year in budgetary financial aid, not including arms supplies.

Chilean president describes Netanyahu as “war criminal”
“At this time of year, as we celebrate Christmas, which symbolizes hope and humanity, we must move and think about the Palestinian people suffering in Gaza,” the Lebanese news outlet Al Mayadeen reported, citing remarks of Boric at a Christmas event hosted by the Palestinian community in Chile.
He condemned the actions of Netanyahu”s administration in Gaza as “crimes against humanity” that should not be overlooked.
“It is difficult to talk about human rights while turning a blind eye to the genocide taking place in Gaza. Defending humanity does not tolerate half-measures,” Boric indicated.
The Chilean leader urged the international community to take decisive action to end the ongoing massacres in Gaza, stressing that “Christmas should be an occasion for reflection and action for peace, not only in Gaza but also in the West Bank.”
This marks yet another instance of Boric condemning Israeli war crimes. In June, he called Netanyahu a war criminal during the Ukraine Peace Summit in Switzerland.
Furthermore, in September, Chile joined South Africa’s case before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) accusing “Israel” of committing genocide in Gaza.
In March, 620 Chilean lawyers filed a complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC) regarding genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity committed by Netanyahu, former Israeli war minister Yoav Gallant, and Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, calling for their precautionary detention.
