Qatar”s Ambassador to Malaysia: HH the Amir”s Visit Opens New Horizons for Enhancing Political Coordination, Regional Dialogue

Kuala Lumpur, May 26 (QNA) – HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Malaysia Salah bin Mohammed Al Sorour affirmed that the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Malaysia reflects the depth of fraternal relations between the two countries, and enhances strategic cooperation in the fields of economy, investment and education.

In an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA), His Excellency said that the visit will open new horizons for enhancing political coordination and regional dialogue, in a way that supports the interests of the two peoples and strengthens partnership with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

His Excellency noted that HH the Amir”s visit will focus on enhancing political coordination and the exchange of strategic visions, paving the way for broader future cooperation between the two countries across various sectors.

His Excellency emphasized that the relations between Qatar and Malaysia are founded on mutual respect and shared interests, and have recently witnessed significant development across several areas. This progress reflect both countries” commitment to strengthening cooperation in fields of economy, investment, and education, as well as their coordination on regional and international issues, thereby opening new horizons for a strategic partnership that serves the interests of both peoples.

Regarding the agreements signed between the State of Qatar and Malaysia, His Excellency noted that more than 40 agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) have been signed, covering diverse and important areas. Work is currently underway to study over 20 new agreements and MoUs between the two sides.

Regarding the mutual investments between Qatar and Malaysia, HE the Qatari Ambassador affirmed that Qatari investments in Malaysia represent a fundamental pillar of the growing partnership between the two countries, especially in the energy and real estate sectors, such as the “Pavilion” commercial project in Kuala Lumpur. The Qatar 2030 and “Civil Malaysia” development visions open promising horizons for more major projects and future investments.

On HH the Amir”s participation in the ASEAN-GCC-China Economic Summit, His Excellency stated that HH the Amir”s participation reflects Qatar”s strategic vision to strengthen regional and international partnerships. “We are confident that this participation will contribute to opening new horizons for constructive cooperation during the next phase, serving common interests and expanding opportunities for integration in various fields”, He added.

His Excellency said that the relations between the State of Qatar and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are significant, stressing that the State of Qatar attaches special importance to its relations with the ASEAN, based on its awareness of the vital role played by the ASEAN countries regionally and internationally. He noted that this relationship represents a promising platform for enhancing multilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, development, and stability.

On the GCC relations with ASEAN countries, His Excellency said that ASEAN countries represent a vital strategic partner for the GCC countries, given their shared interests and shared regional and international challenges. He stressed the importance of strengthening strategic partnerships and activating joint initiatives that support economic growth and social stability for the benefit of the people.

HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Malaysia Salah bin Mohammed Al Sorour concluded his interviews with QNA by noting the most important issues that will be highlighted during the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit. His Excellency said that the Summit in Malaysia will focus on enhancing economic integration to achieve shared prosperity, in addition to adopting the final document and joint statement of the economic ASEAN-GCC-China Economic Summit, as well as discussing any new developments to enhance regional cooperation.
