5 Palestinians Martyred, Others Injured in Israeli Bombardment on Al Mawasi in Khan Yunis

Gaza, April 29 (QNA) – Five Palestinians were martyred and others injured early Tuesday due to the Israeli bombardment on Al Mawasi area in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip, amid a catastrophic worsening of the humanitarian situation.

According to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), four Palestinians were killed and more than 30 injured after Israeli forces bombed tents sheltering displaced persons in the southern Al-Iqlimi area of Al Mawasi, Khan Yunis.

Medical sources reported that another Palestinian succumbed to wounds sustained a few days ago in Khan Yunis.

As the assault on Gaza continues, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that the closure of all crossing points has led to the worst humanitarian crisis in the Strip since October 2023. No humanitarian or commercial supplies have entered for over seven weeks, the longest aid blockade since the beginning of the conflict.

UNRWA added that there is a growing scarcity of food, clean drinking water, shelter, and medical care due to the ongoing Israeli siege, which has drastically increased the prices of essential supplies. It noted that many medical supplies have already run out, and more are expected to be depleted in the coming weeks, with only 57% of essential medicines currently available; enough to last one month or less.

Medical services are facing a severe shortage of resources, with two-thirds of essential medical supplies projected to run out in under two months.

The continued blockade is also obstructing the transport of supplies from the south to the north of Gaza, further hampering humanitarian operations.

Notably, 65,000 children have been hospitalized due to acute malnutrition, out of a total of 1.1 million children suffering from daily hunger. (QNA)
