“Global Tensions: Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Gaza Under Fire”

Iraqi resistance reacts to Trump’s threats against Iran

In a post on his X account on Thursday, al-Walae said that an honorable person will never remain neutral when confronted with right and wrong. He referred to the historical figures, comparing [Prophet] Moses (PBUH) and Pharaoh, as well as [Prophet] Muhammad (PBUH) and Abu Jahl, and then compared Iran with the United States.

“Just as we have stood by Palestine, whenever needed, we will stand by the Islamic Republic of Iran with our conscience and blood and defend it,” he emphasized.

“Our principles are steadfast and unchangeable, O God, you be witness,” he added.

Iran condemns Israeli regime’s attack on Syrian defense and civilian infrastructures

Esmaeil Baqaei said on Thursday that the Islamic Republic, as in the past, emphasizes the importance of safeguarding the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Syria as a historic nation in the West Asia region.

Referring to the repeated violation of the Syrian soil and targeting the most valuable defense assets and military and civilian infrastructures, and occupation of some certain strategic areas of Syria by the Israeli regime, Baqaei said that all involved parties share responsibility for Israel’s aggressions.

He also said that during consultations with the regional countries, Iran had warned months earlier about the expansion of Israeli occupation and its warmongering actions against Syria and other regional countries.

Baqaei also urged international community, especially countries of the region and Organization of Islamic Cooperation, to take immediate and effective measures to halt Israel’s violations and to put an end to the regime’s impunity and hold it accountable for its blatant breaches of the law, continuous attack on reginal countries, and the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Israel expands ground offensive in Gaza to seize ‘extensive territory’

On Wednesday morning, the minister in charge of military affairs, Israel Katz, said that troops were advancing to clear southern Gaza and capture extensive swathes of territory.

Since Israel resumed the war on March 18, Israeli forces have reoccupied the strategic Netzarim corridor, which divides Gaza in half. This corridor was previously vacated as part of a ceasefire agreement with Hamas earlier in the year.

Reports suggest that Israel has already taken control of approximately 62 square kilometers (24 square miles) of Gaza—about 17 percent of its total area—designating these lands as part of a so-called “buffer zone” along the enclave’s periphery.

Israeli forces also maintain their presence along the Philadelphi corridor on the Gaza–Egypt border.

Both Katz and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had earlier warned of plans to occupy additional areas in Gaza to pressure Hamas into meeting Israeli demands. These include the release of all Israeli prisoners and the complete disarmament and surrender of the group.

The announcement on Wednesday morning followed overnight airstrikes on the southern Gaza cities of Rafah and Khan Yunis. The bombings resulted in significant Palestinian casualties, including children.

Netanyahu insists that Hamas release the 59 Israeli prisoners still held in Gaza in exchange for Palestinians held in Israeli prisons, but without committing to ending the war and withdrawing troops.

Hamas has rejected these demands, instead calling for negotiations to progress to the second phase of the January ceasefire.
