Iran”s IRGC unveils ‘underground missile megacity’

The facility was unveiled on Tuesday with Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri and the Aerospace Division’s Commander Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh in attendance.

Footage published across various Iranian news outlets showed the top brass touring the sprawling center that houses thousands of surgical strike ballistic missiles such as Kheybar Shekan, Martyr Haj Qassem, Qadr-H, Sejjil, and Emad.

Among the projectiles, Iran’s Kheybar Shekan-1 missile is credited with being capable of defeating the United States much-vaunted THAAD missile system, while Kheybar Shekan-2 has been developed so it can evade the system. The American missile system’s projectiles are said to enjoy destructive capability against targets lying as far as 200 kilometers (124 miles) away.

Martyr Haj Qassem among the missiles has been codenamed after the Islamic Republic’s top anti-terror commander, General Qassem Soleimani, who was assassinated in early 2020 in an American aerial attack against Baghdad amid his instrumental role in defeating foreign-backed Takfiri terrorists across the region.

The Qadr-H missile that can fly as far as 1,700 kilometers (1,056 miles) as well as the Emad and Sejjil missiles have also been rated as effective medium-range ballistic projectiles in the country’s firepower.

“Iran’s iron fist is far stronger [today] than before,” Bagheri said, addressing the facility’s personnel during the tour.

‘10 times stronger than True Promise II’

“All the [defensive] dimensions that are required for generating a [military] capability that is ten times [stronger than] the one deployed during Operation True Promise II, has been created,” the commander added.

Last year, the Islamic Republic demonstrated its military might with Operation True Promise I and II, retaliatory strikes launched in response to Israeli aggression.

The operations, carried out using hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones, showcased Iran”s ability to strike Israeli military and intelligence targets with surgical accuracy.

Iranian officials have underscored that the country only deployed a fraction of its firepower during the dual reprisal.

Bagheri further noted that the pace at which the Islamic Republic was developing its defensive might was far faster than the pace of the enemies’ recuperation.

“The enemy will definitely fall behind in this balance of power,” the official asserted, hailing that the Iranian Armed Forces were staying on their course of further development, enhancement, and empowerment.

Yemen launches fresh attacks on US, Israeli targets

Yemen”s Armed Forces have engaged US warships in the Red Sea for several hours and launched drone strikes on Israeli military positions near the city of Tel Aviv in continued retaliation for American military aggression against the country and the Israeli regime”s war of genocide and siege against Gaza.

The forces issued a statement on Wednesday, declaring that their missile, drone, and naval units had jointly executed a military operation targeting hostile warships in the Red Sea, including the American aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, “from which aggression against Yemen was being launched.”

“The confrontation persisted for several hours,” with Yemeni forces actively engaging and managing developments within the operational area, they added.

Separately, the troops launched drone strikes against Israeli military sites in the occupied city of Yaffa near Tel Aviv with several armed unmanned aerial vehicles.

The latter strikes “successfully achieved their objectives,” the statement noted, reminding that the operations took place “in solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian people in Gaza.”

The forces, meanwhile, emphasized their commitment to resisting American aggression that was targeting the Arab Peninsula nation over its pro-Palestinian operations and reiterated their determination to respond to escalations in kind.

Despite underway American attacks on Yemen, which had most recently targeted the city of Sa’ada in the Arab country’s northwest, the troops also asserted that they would continue banning Israeli and Israeli-related navigation within key waterways.

Yemeni forces began enforcing the ban in October 2023 in response to the Israeli regime’s launching the war and its further tightening the regime”s already stifling siege on the Gaza Strip. They paused the strikes after the regime entered a ceasefire agreement with Gaza’s Hamas resistance movement, but resumed them earlier this month to force Tel Aviv into stopping its violations of the deal and subsequent resumption of the war as well as to make the regime end the blockade.

Additionally, the Wednesday statement called upon “all the free people of the Arab and Islamic world to rise and act to stop the genocide being committed against their brothers in the Gaza Strip.”

On Tuesday, the forces said they had targeted the Israeli regime”s Ben Gurion airport in Yaffa with two ballistic missiles, including the Zulfiqar and the hypersonic Palestine-2 projectiles, in solidarity with Gazans.

Concurrently, they targeted the USS Harry S. Truman and accompanying warships in the Red Sea with ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones, marking the second such attack within 24 hours in response to American atrocities.

At least 54 killed in Sudanese military airstrike on market

The attack on the village of Tora on Monday caused a massive fire. The Sudanese military denied targeting civilians, calling the allegations “incorrect.” However, rights groups have condemned the strike, calling it a “war crime” due to its impact on densely populated areas. More than half of the victims were women, and at least 23 others were injured.

The ongoing conflict, which began in April 2023, has left over 28,000 dead, with millions displaced. The situation in Darfur remains dire as both sides continue to escalate violence.
