Here’s what you need to know Daylight Saving Time date in Egypt
The official date for Daylight Saving Time in 2025 in Egypt will be at midnight on Friday, April 25, at exactly 12:00 midnight, when the clocks will be set forward by 60 minutes, becoming 1:00 AM instead of 12:00 AM, in implementation of the provisions of Law No. 34 of 2023.
The House of Representatives approved the law, and the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi ratified it on April 16, 2023, as part of the state”s efforts to rationalize electricity consumption.
Daylight Saving Time will continue until Thursday, October 30, 2025, when clocks will be set back 60 minutes to return to winter time.
Why is Daylight Saving Time being implemented?
Daylight Saving Time is implemented in Egypt to rationalize electricity consumption by reducing reliance on artificial lighting and making greater use of daylight.
This step contributes to achieving economic savings in energy consumption, especially in large institutions, in addition to enhancing productivity and reducing electricity consumption in homes and businesses.
