Israeli regime will be held accountable for its crimes: envoy

Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the U.N. Amir Sa”eed Iravani said that the Israeli regime is repeating the same pattern and practice of killing children this time in Iran, adding that the regime will be fully held accountable for its crimes, especially the policies and practices of targeting children.

The full text of the speech by Iravani is as follows:

Statement by

Amir Saeid Iravani

Ambassador and Permanent Representative of

Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations

Open Debate of the United Nations Security Council

on “Children and Armed Conflict”

New York, 26 June 2025

In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

Thank you, Madam. President, for organizing this important annual open debate. I also thank the briefers for their contributions. Regrettably, international humanitarian law continues to be systematically and widely violated, and children still bear the brunt of wars they neither started nor ever wanted.

Armed conflicts endanger the lives and well-being of children while having far-reaching short-term and long-term impacts on their health, education, development, and future. Adherence to international humanitarian law is among the key commitments that should be observed by all to ensure effective protection of children

Madam President,

According to the UN reports, over fifty thousand Palestinian children have been killed or injured by Israel since 2023.

The magnitude of the savagery of the Israeli regime is to the extent that, due to its persistent killing of children, a new term has emerged, as I quote, “Wounded Child, No Surviving Family,” which refers to Palestinian parents who were killed while their children were left injured.

In addition to deliberate attacks by Israel against children and civilian objects necessary for children, such as schools and hospitals, hundreds of thousands of children have been deliberately deprived of access to food, water, medicine, and other basic services.

Right now, many of them are subjected to starvation as a method of warfare by Israel, while they are also facing the risk of being targeted in lines awaiting humanitarian assistance.

Madam President,

Throughout the past weeks, the world witnessed in anguish and anger the same pattern and practice of the Israeli regime in killing children, this time in Iran.

The regime, in the course of its brutal aggression against my country, deliberately attacked civilians since 13 June, killing dozens of children, including toddlers and babies as young as 2 months old.

The horrific atrocities and the widespread and systematic attacks of the occupying regime in the region are increasing; this is a red alert for the international community and demonstrates the serious perils and dangers that the Israeli regime poses to the lives, well-being, safety, and security of children.

However, the regime will be held fully accountable for its crimes, in particular, the policy and practice of targeting children.

Madam President,

Last week, the Israeli regime was included again in the blacklist of parties that commit grave violations affecting children in situations of armed conflict on the agenda of the Security Council.

While this is an essential initial step, it is neither enough nor proportionate for stopping the regime’s targeting of children.

This very august body must shoulder its responsibilities to save the lives of children as soon as possible and thus immediately adopt effective enforcement actions against the child-killing regime of Israel.

Although the United States has blocked every effort of the UN Security Council that sought to protect Palestinian children, we should not give up in the face of such double standards and hypocrisy; all legal avenues must be exhausted to ensure the protection of the Palestinian people, including their children.

In conclusion, Madam President, I categorically reject the baseless and irrelevant fabrications leveled against my country yesterday in this chamber by the representative of the child-killing Israeli regime. That regime had no choice but to resort to lies and misinformation before this Council, but these accusations hardly deserve a response — the facts speak for themselves.

Lebanon proud to stand by Iran , Leader of Islamic Rev.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem addressed on Thursday the central Ashura mourning service in Beirut’s Dahieh, reiterating allegiance to Imam Hussein (P) path as consecrated by Martyr Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah, Al Manar reports.

“We approach our stance with refusal to yield, just as Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) taught us—this is a fundamental element in confronting the dangers that threaten future generations.”

A martyr knows how to end his life on the battlefield of honor—thus he becomes great on earth and in the heavens, Sheikh Qassem explained.

“’Far be it from us to be humiliated’ —we repeat this with Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) always and forever. What we possess is our dignity, our stance, and our deeds, which we shall carry with us on the Day of Judgment.

“When we commemorate Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), we are commemorating the essence of the divine law—and calling upon the entire Ummah to take the righteous stance that leads to salvation in this life and the hereafter,” Sheikh Qassem added

“‘I shall never abandon you, O Hussein’… for your path leads us to Allah Almighty, and we shall continue upon it. This was the path of the Master of the Martyrs of our Ummah, His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah—may Allah’s blessings be upon him—who gave his blood and soul under the banner of ‘I shall never abandon you, O Hussein’.”

Hezbollah leader explained that the Islamic Republic of Iran foiled the three main objectives of the aggression: first, the elimination of nuclear enrichment; second, the dismantling of the missile program; and third, the overthrow of the system and targeting of His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei.

Iran emerged victorious after 12 days of aggression, and the ceasefire itself is a declaration of triumph for the Islamic Republic, Sheikh Qassem affirmed.

“The Islamic Republic has proven that it alone is capable of confronting the American tyranny and the criminal Israel, along with their European support.” Sheikh Qassem maintained that Hezbollah supports Iran’s independent choices, free from American hegemony.

“We are proud to stand by Iran and to stand under the banner of the brave Imam and leader, Sayyed Ali Khamenei.”

“The Islamic Republic has thwarted the three goals of the aggression: halting uranium enrichment, striking the missile program, and toppling the regime,” his eminence said.

“We cannot submit to dictates and surrender. We want our homeland to be cherished for generations to come, and we will resist for that, no matter the sacrifices.”

Iranian missiles absolute nightmare for Israel: Ansarullah

The leader of Yemen’s Ansarullah resistance movement has congratulated Iran on its glorious victory over the Israeli regime and its backers in the recent war of aggression against the Islamic Republic, stressing that Iranian missiles were “an absolute nightmare for the Zionist entity.”

In a televised speech from the Yemeni capital Sana’a on Thursday afternoon, Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said Iran’s victory marks a triumph for the entire Muslim world.

“We felicitate Iran on its great victory over the aggressive, oppressive, and criminal Israeli enemy. We congratulate Muslims on Iran”s historic triumph. This victory benefited the entire Islamic world,” he said.

“The defeat that the Zionist enemy and its criminal partners, led by the United States, Britain, Germany and France, suffered in the face of Iran marks a victory for the entire Muslim Ummah (nations),”

He added that the Islamic world has for decades been beset by crises created by enemies, emphasizing that God”s power and authority stand over all creation and Muslims can overcome their challenges and dangers through reliance on such an incontrovertible fact.

“Failure to observe God’s commandments will provide enemies with the opportunity to dominate the Muslim world,” the leader of the Yemeni resistance stressed.

The Ansarullah chief went on to describe the volume of preparations made by the Israeli enemy to attack Iran with US support as fairly large, saying it took the Tel Aviv regime more than a year to get ready for the war of aggression.

“The peak of danger in attacking Iran was the Israeli enemy”s attempt to push the Islamic Republic out of its way with the aim of dominating the [West Asia] region,” Houthi said.

He praised Pakistan’s condemnation of Israeli attacks on Iran’s nuclear, military and residential sites as “an insightful and excellent reaction” compared to other Muslim governments and countries.

He also commended Turkey”s strong denunciation of the Israeli airstrikes as “a clear, obvious and well-versed behavior.”

“The defeat of the Israeli enemy was a loss for the Zionist regime itself, the US, and all of its Western sponsors,” the Ansarullah leader said.

Houthi stated that US President Donald Trump’s call for Iran”s “unconditional surrender” showed the true nature of the enemies” objectives, underscoring that Washington and the Tel Aviv regime ended their attacks with Iran accepting no conditions.

“The defeat of the Israeli enemy at the military level was completely obvious. The Zionist entity failed to achieve its goals of destruction,” he said.

“The Israeli enemy could not protect itself against Iranian missiles and suffered huge losses. The waves of Iranian missile attacks were an absolute nightmare for the Israeli enemy and marked an unprecedented incident.”

He emphasized that Israeli settlers were living in an extraordinary state of terror and fear during Iranian missile strikes and hid themselves in bomb shelters.

“The Zionists experienced the same conditions as Palestinians in Gaza in terms of bombardment and destruction. The defeat of the Israeli enemy was very great, and Iran was victorious, thanks to its leadership, the IRGC (the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps), the Army, and the Iranian nation,” Houthi said.

He said the victory of the Islamic Republic of Iran belongs to all Muslims, Arabs, and the Palestinian issue.

“The downfall of the Islamic establishment in Iran or its surrender and subjugation is an impossible and unfeasible matter. If the goals of aggressors against Iran had been achieved, it would have significantly changed the face of the region,” Houthi stated.

He added that the main goal of attacking Iran was to change the face of West Asia, which means the enemies will go after other regional governments and countries.

“The Organization of Islamic Cooperation did not issue anything other than a statement of condemnation regarding the aggression against Iran. What this organization lacks, as opposed to its name, is cooperation. Cooperation in the Muslim Ummah does not exist apropos the Palestinian cause or other significant issues,” Houthi said.

“It is a great blessing and divine victory that the Israeli enemy is defeated despite its might, aggression, resources, and the support of the US and the West.”

Tehran slams German support for Israeli Aggression

In a post on his X account, released in German language on Friday, Esmaeil Baqaei lashed out at Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz for “solidifying his position on the wrong side of history by positioning himself as a staunch supporter and apologist of a genocidal aggressor”.

“It is deeply shameful when a statesman ignores a blatant act of aggression and gross violations of international law -let alone attempts to justify them,” Baqaei added.

“When the head of government of a country like Germany, with the legacy of Berlin in 1945, ignores the warning ‘Never again war’ and supports Israeli aggression, war crimes, and genocide, he not only distances himself from the moral compass of history but also violates the collective conscience of the German people,” the Iranian spokesman said.

“Iran will not forget those who once supplied Saddam with chemical weapons -and those who today once again applaud when international law is violated. History does not forget easily, and the memory of nations is long,” Baqaei stated.

His comments came after German Chancellor Merz claimed in a statement on Tuesday that the Israeli regime “has a right to defend its existence and the safety of its citizens” against Iran.

The Zionist regime waged an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran on June 13. It carried out airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear, military and residential sites that resulted in the martyrdom of over 600 people, including top military commanders, nuclear scientists and ordinary citizens.

The Iranian military forces started counterattacks immediately afterwards. The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Aerospace Force carried out 22 waves of retaliatory missile strikes against the Zionist regime as part of Operation True Promise III that inflicted heavy losses on cities across the occupied territories.

A ceasefire that came into force on June 24 has brought the fighting to a halt.
