Iran summons France’s charge d’affaires over foreign minister’s interfering remarks
Mohammad Tanhaei, head of the Second Europe Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, conveyed Iran’s strong objections over French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot’s comments during a meeting with the French diplomat on Sunday.
Tanhaei denounced the comments as interference in Iran’s internal affairs, condemning them as irresponsible and provocative. He called for an official explanation from the French Foreign Ministry in response to Iran’s concerns.
Additionally, Tanhaei criticized the French government for using the Cannes Film Festival as a platform to advance its political agenda against Iran.
He argued that France, as a firm supporter of the Israeli regime, lacks the moral standing to make human rights claims or accuse other nations.
In response, the French charge d’affaires said that he would relay Iran’s concerns to his government.

Iran says time and venue for next round of talks with U.S. not set yet
Speaking to IRNA in Tehran on Sunday, Baqaei said that a message on the X platform, attributed to the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, regarding the next round of indirect negotiations with the U.S. is fabricated.
The spokesperson reaffirmed that the time and venue have not yet been finalized.
Foreign Minister Araqchi has led five rounds of negotiations—three in Muscat and two in Rome—with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff, mediated by Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Al-Busaidi.
After talks concluded in Rome on Friday, Araqchi said it was “one of the most professional” rounds of negotiations between the two sides since the diplomatic process began in April.
The top diplomat said the American side had “now a better, clearer and more precise understanding of our positions.”

Yemen strikes Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport with ballistic missile
“The operation successfully achieved its objective, causing millions of usurping Zionists to rush to shelters and bringing the airport to a standstill,” Yemeni army spokesperson Brigadier-General Yahya Saree said in a statement on Sunday.
He said that the missile was launched in support of “the oppressed Palestinian people and their resistance fighters,” and in rejection of “the genocide and other crimes being committed by the Zionist enemy in the Gaza Strip.”
The spokesperson emphasized that the daily massacres of Palestinians are pushing Yemen, its proud people, leadership, and the army, to escalate operations aimed at forcing Israel to end its aggression against Gaza and lift the siege of the territory.
He also affirmed the continued ban on air traffic to Ben Gurion and its compliance by most international airlines.
Earlier, the Israeli military confirmed the missile attack but claimed that it was intercepted. However, sources reported that the Yemeni missile halted the airport operation and prompted sirens in Tel Aviv, al-Quds, and settlements in the occupied West Bank and the Negev region.
The Yemeni army has intensified its aerial operations in recent weeks, in addition to the continued naval blockade, in support of the Palestinian people.

France has no moral authority to give Iran lectures
The top Iranian diplomat was commenting on the remarks by French President who said that Paris will not enforce the ICC arrest warrant for the Israeli regime”s premier, Benjamin Netanyahu.
“There have been many transgressions making a mockery of France”s “human rights activism”. But perhaps nothing has made the hypocrisy as stark as the French approach to the Israeli regime and its war crimes,” Araghchi wrote on X.
“Spare us Iranians the lectures. You have no moral authority whatsoever.”

The talks were held in a calm and professional atmosphere,” wrote Iran”s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei in a post on his X account on Friday evening.
“The Omani Foreign Minister had proposed solutions and ideas to tackle the obstacles, the outlines and axes of which were examined in this round,” he added.

Trump considering toughening sanctions against Russia
Replying to a question as to whether he was considering introducing additional restrictions against Russia, the US leader said: “Absolutely.”
According to TASS, the US leader has also expressed his displeasure with Russia’s recent massive strike on Ukrainian targets, saying that he was “surprised” and he does not “like it at all.”
On May 20, Axios cited sources as saying that, after a telephone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Trump told European leaders and Vladimir Zelensky that he did not intend to impose sanctions against Russia now because, in his opinion, Moscow is serious about the Ukrainian settlement.

Iran’s Ex-deputy FM: Final draft agreement reached in 2022, but delayed by Ukraine war
“When President Raisi took office, negotiations were already underway. The new administration decided to continue the talks, insisting that Iran’s strategic demands be addressed,” Bagheri said. He added that by March 2022, “a mutually accepted framework was finalized.”
However, the escalation of hostilities between Russia and Ukraine created a pause in the process. “Later in September 2022, a final draft was agreed upon in New York during our meetings with representatives from the UK, France, Germany, and the EU,” Bagheri stated.
He added that the deal was expected to be signed after the U.S. midterm elections in November 2022, but “miscalculations in Washington” derailed that outcome.
He noted that internal U.S. concerns—including claims that the draft gave Iran more concessions than the original JCPOA—hindered Washington’s seriousness in sealing the deal.
“In 2023, the U.S. sought to avoid both a deal and a crisis. That’s what led to the indirect talks in Muscat,” Bagheri concluded.
