Kuwaiti delegation supports Ahl Masr burns hospital

A high-profile Kuwaiti delegation visited Ahl Masr Burns Hospital in New Cairo to assess its exceptional medical services and explore avenues for further support. The visit aligns with Kuwait’s longstanding commitment to humanitarian healthcare initiatives and strengthens collaboration with Egypt in the medical sector.

During the visit, the delegation toured the main operating room, donated in honor of the late Sheikh Abdullah Mubarak Al-Sabah, and the patient waiting room, named after the late Sheikh Sabah Mohammed Sabah Al-Sabah. The Kuwaiti delegation included H.E. Ghanem Saqr Al-Ghanem, Kuwait’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League; Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Sabah, Vice Chairman of Practical Group Holding; and Dr. Mohammed Owaida Al-Ajmi, Head of the Health Office at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Cairo.

The visit was attended by H.E. Eng. Ibrahim Mahlab, Former Prime Minister and Honorary President & Board Member of Ahl Masr Foundation; Dr. Hala El-Saeed, Advisor to the Egyptian President for Economic Affairs and Board Member of Ahl Masr Foundation; Ms. Iman Sherif, CEO of Ahl Masr Foundation; and Mr. Rifaat Abdel-Maqsoud, Executive Director of Ahl Masr Burns Hospital, along with the hospital’s executive leadership.

H.E. Eng. Ibrahim Mahlab praised the strong cooperation between Egypt and Kuwait in supporting humanitarian causes, stating: “The continued support reflects the deep brotherly relations between the two nations and underscores the importance of collective efforts in aiding burn victims and sustaining this vital medical institution.”

Dr. Hala El-Saeed commended the partnership between Egypt and Kuwait in the healthcare sector, emphasizing that Ahl Masr Burns Hospital serves as a model in comprehensive burn treatment. She acknowledged Kuwait’s ongoing support as a testament to its dedication to humanitarian efforts.

Dr. Heba El-Sewedy, Founder and Chairperson of Ahl Masr Foundation and Ahl Masr Burns Hospital, expressed gratitude to Kuwait for its unwavering support since the hospital’s inception, recognizing its commitment to the cause of burn victims.

Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Sabah highlighted the donation of the operating room and patient waiting area as a reflection of Kuwait’s appreciation for the hospital’s role in delivering top-tier medical care to burn patients. He praised the hospital’s high-quality services, describing it as a leading example of advanced healthcare.

Ambassador Ghanem Saqr Al-Ghanem expressed pride in the hospital’s progress and its impact on burn treatment in Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa.

Since its opening in March 2024, Ahl Masr Burns Hospital has treated over 8,000 burn patients, received 2,500 emergency cases, and provided intensive care for 350 patients in adult and pediatric ICU units. The hospital also offers psychological rehabilitation for burn survivors, supporting their reintegration into society and raising awareness of burn-related issues.

This visit reinforces the strong Egypt-Kuwait ties and underscores the importance of continued international collaboration in addressing healthcare challenges and supporting burn victims.
