Public Prosecution investigates Jordanian blogger Suzy over false news
Cairo”s Public Prosecution ordered on Saturday the release of Jordanian blogger Suzy after investigating her on charges of spreading false news on social media.
The release was ordered on bail of LE 1,000.
Suzy posted a video clip on social media, claiming that her sister, who was disabled with poor eyesight, had her mobile phone stolen by two girls while she was walking in the street.
She claimed that the perpetrators took advantage of her medical condition.
However security investigations revealed that the mobile phone was not stolen, but was in the possession of one of Suzy”s sister”s friends, who did not file a complaint.
Suzy faces charges of publishing false information. The Public Prosecution decided to continue investigating the incident in preparation for a final decision, and requested additional police investigations.
