Dubai: As has Ramadan begun, both the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and Dubai Municipality have issued advisories to help residents maintain their health and well-being throughout the holy month. .From sleep and exercise routines to mindful eating and hydration, these tips aim to ensure a balanced Ramadan experience..Taking to social media, the authorities have urged residents to follow the tips for a healthier Ramadan. .In its post on X, the DHA has highlighted the importance of building healthy habits during Ramadan and issued a set of ‘Dos and Don’ts’ to follow in the holy month. .How much should you sleep?.The authority recommends getting at least four hours of sleep before waking up for suhoor, as adequate rest is vital to maintaining energy levels. .Meanwhile, Dubai Municipality has underscored the importance of quality sleep for better well-being..“Prioritise quality sleep for better well-being,” the municipality said in its post on X..How much should you exercise?.The civic body, which regulates food safety and public health services in the emirate, has offered tips including staying active with at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise daily during Ramadan..Meanwhile, if you wish to cut more flab, the health authority recommends exercising an hour before iftar to burn fat and lose weight..However, DHA has advised against exercising under direct sunlight or in a hot place as it could cause dehydration..What should you eat?.“Drink lots of fluids, eat nuts and fish, as they contain vitamin E that regenerates skin cells,” advises the DHA..However, DHA has cautioned against overeating at night, especially just before bed, as it can lead to sleep disturbances and even acid reflux. .Unhealthy habits such as eating fatty food and soft drinks should also be avoided. .The municipality has also urged those who are fasting to maintain a balanced diet and limit fast food and foods high in fats and sugars. .The civic body has also stressed on staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water between iftar and suhoor..What should parents do?.Additionally, DHA has encouraged parents to gradually introduce fasting to children, especially if they are below the age of nine..Parents have also been advised against letting children be in a hurry to complete the whole fast especially if they are below the age of nine.
