Zelenskyy Thanks US Amid White House Dispute Over Military Aid

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently clashed with former US President Donald Trump in a heated Oval Office meeting. The discussion, focused on US military aid to Ukraine, ended with rising tensions and the cancellation of a crucial minerals agreement.

Following the meeting, Zelenskyy took to social media platform X to express gratitude for US support, writing: “Thank you, America, for your support. Thank you, @POTUS, Congress, and the American people. Ukraine needs a just and lasting peace, and we are working toward it.”

During the exchange, US Vice President JD Vance reportedly asked Zelenskyy, “Have you ever said thank you?” To this, Zelenskyy responded, “We are standing firm in our country. From the very beginning of the war, we were alone, and we are grateful.”

Trump later accused Zelenskyy of “disrespecting America” and suggested the Ukrainian leader was not serious about seeking peace. He stated, “I want peace, not profit. He disrespected the United States in the Oval Office. When he is ready for peace, he can come back.”

The incident has created further strain in US-Ukraine relations. Leaders from Canada, Norway, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, and Moldova condemned Trump’s comments, reaffirming their support for Ukraine. Meanwhile, Russian officials mocked the dispute, viewing it as a diplomatic setback for Ukraine.

This controversy could have significant implications for Ukraine’s future US aid and the broader geopolitical balance.
